Hello everyone! Hope you have been well this season.
Times like these can bring out the best in us—greater patience, perseverance and creativity—to bring a long-awaited dream wedding to pass. While some may have postponed their big day, some have scaled it down to <20 pax. Regardless of how “small” it may seem physically—wedding vows are always a big deal!!! They are promises about the commitment you’re giving to your partner and this marriage. If you go along with the traditional version (included below), it has pretty much covered it all. But if you’re looking to write your own vows, we have found some examples that may give you some inspiration. (:
“I, ____, take you, ____, to be my lawfully wedded (husband/wife),
to have and to hold,
from this day forward,
for better, for worse,
for richer, for poorer,
in sickness and in health,
until death do us part.”
“You are my lover and my teacher,
You are my model and my accomplice,
And you are my true counterpart.
I will love you, hold you and honour you,
I will respect you, encourage you and cherish you,
In health and sickness,
Through sorrow and success,
For all the days of my life.”
“____, I promise, to respect you as an individual, with interests, desires, and needs as important as my own.
To be your partner in celebrating our successes and facing our challenges.
To be a loving (husband/wife) to you, and contribute daily to the health, comfort, and balance of our relationship.
I promise to keep myself open to you, and to continuously delight in the privilege of sharing my life with you.”
“____, in finding you, my dreams have come true.
In your love, I have found a home for my heart and soul.
I, _____, take you, ____, to be my (husband/wife),
my constant friend, my faithful partner and the love of my life.
In the presence of God, our families and friends,
I promise to be your faithful partner in sickness and in health,
in good times and in bad, in happiness as well as in sadness.
I promise to love you unconditionally,
to support you in your aspirations,
and to honour and respect you.
This is my solemn vow.”
“You make me happier than I ever thought I could be.
And if you’ll let me, I will spend the rest of my life trying to make you feel the same way.”
“You, darling ____ are my best friend, my playmate, my confidante—and my greatest gift.
You are the love of my life, someone who always makes me happier than I could ever have imagined
and you have made me a better person than I ever thought I could be.
I feel truly blessed that you chose me—and that I get to share my life with you—
and that you have chosen to share yours with me.”
